Open Brief

Project

Duration: 22 days

Due: Thursday, June 26, 2014
End of class

Overview

For your final project you are given the opportunity to specify your own parameters in the form of a Proposal.

Each student will clearly define their goal at the outset and methodically work towards a predertmined outcome.

In other words, you will be writing your own project description, setting the criteria of the project, scheduling milestones, defining the final form of the piece you're creating, and outlining the types of products you'll be submitting on the due date.

Each submission will be reviewedand approved by the instructor. The proposal is the first part of a two-way dialogue between student and instructor.

There are no size or formatrestrictions.

Considerations

Be thoughtful about your selection.

Keep in mind that what you select is just as important as what you doand how you do it.

Choose something meaningful and something that's actually possibleto accomplish. Do not loose sight of the fact that this is an Adobe Illustrator class.

Please let the following items guide your decision.

  1. Photoshop's strengths and weaknesses
  2. The type of career you're pursuing
  3. The work in your current portfolio
  4. The projects we've already done
  5. Your other class projects

Project Scope
Please give your project a simple title for classroom identification purposes (i.e. Map of Japan, Comic Book Story Illustrations, Typography Poster, etc.)
In what ways will the output of this project separate you from your peers? In other words, if you are making a poster (for example), what will make your poster special?
Briefly describe the contents of your current portfolio, the purpose of your portfolio, and why the project will help fill an absence of a certain type of work in your portfolio.
Please estimate your expected amount of work in terms of hours, days, work sessions, class periods, or any unit of time that fits your typical working method.
Please describe in pixels or inches, the dimensions of the piece or pieces you are creating.
Thoroughly describe (in list form) the sequential process this project will take, from concept to completion. In most cases it is helpful to envision the final product and think backwards.
Please describe the type(s) of files and/or physical products you will be submitting as your final product. Be specific! Mention exact file types, quantities, etc.
Please include links to reference images and any other type of research that might help describe your vision.
